History has shown that, any adminstration or governments that gives little or no considerations to the wants and cries of those it has sworn to protect and cater for is threading the part of doom.Unilorin administration haven’t seem to learn anything from this and has continued with its dogmatic decision making with little or no regards for the welfarism of its
students , but very soon if you are able to see beyond the presence, you will notice some dominoes falling and calling for its doom.
I do not share the believe that unilorin students are voiceless students led by a toothless student union, though one question the unionism of our student union who through their 3C’s policy does nothing, but what the school administration wants and when they want it,if you think i am wrong, explain to fellow unilorite what was the impact of the deadline given to the school management on the issue of 2016/2017 set PC tablet. What I believe is, we are students who came in to this institution with the notion that unilorin doesn’t embark on strike and all we wanted was a school we thought was understanding, but alas! to the contrary we were met with a pharaohic system of administration that gives no thought to the welfarism of the student but to the continued illusion of their supposed great achievement (16 YEARS OF ACADEMIC STABILITY) . and we students through thick and thin have bore the burden and we will, but we do not deserve to be treated like we don’t have our own rights (i doubt we do actually,) even animals have constituted rights .
It is painful and highly embarrassing that a student of unilorin or an alumni can hardly recommend his alma-mata to listening ears, you just don’t see anything special about the school, the adminstration treats its student like third- citizens for every jack and harry to trample on, even security personnel sees themselves as semi-god and this people whom themselves hardly finished secondary school(no offence intended) embarrassed student on campus, the lecturers are the worse, maybe they all attended a training that showed the students as lab rats for any convenient experiment, because one tend to question their state of mind sometimes, with their erroneous and hectic assignments , classwork, reports and materials (pls fellow students, Unilorin lecturers does not give or sell handouts but textbook which you don’t buy, you don’t pass), and their god-like behaviors of slapping students around campus (somebody that came to school fa!).
NOW the administration cannot set feasible timetable. After all the provisional, final, amended final, final amended final,final final amended final timetable, we still couldn’t have the test, due to poor coordination of the lecturers in charge of the courses and I believe whoever set that timetable just got employed and thinks we have more than that 6 cbt centre because i don’t know where we are all supposed to fit in, the population was just too much and after being sent back home, we still couldn’t find transportation back and most of us had to walk back home, whereas those who caused it all still gave no damn and none was available to render any assistant. ( KUDOS TO EVER GALLANT UNILORITE ). HOPE YOU ALL HEARD ABOUT The Accident , I WITNESSED IT
But all these are just evidence that support the notion that university of Ilorin management needs to be grateful to the students for their cooperation through all these hardship and go back to the decision room, rethink their steps or they will get and deserve whatever comes to them, as today I did not see understanding students but tired, frustrated, helpless but hopeful students who just need the right and I mean any right push and they will all in unity stand against the management to put an end to all unreasonable treatment whether through unionism or aluta whatever it is
I in no form advice violence or protest or support the act of students turning to street touts and demolishing school properties or causing injury or harm to personnel, this is just a wakeup call to all and sundry especially the school management to always put the students first, that the time is ticking fast and there is a limit we students will tolerate this hardship.
UNILORIN WILL GET IT. UNILORIN MANAGEMENT! PROBITAS INDOCTRINA!!!
